I’m YE, a Shanghai-based travel creator with a sketchbook full of hotel rooms. My work brings together room plans, personal observations, local details and stories written in Chinese.
Each page is a personal record of a stay — a way to notice more, and carry a little of it home.

The paper belongs
to the place.
A hotel’s own stationery is where each drawing begins.
I draw on the letterheaded paper provided by the hotels I stay in. Every sheet is different: its weight, texture, colour and printed identity become part of the work. It may respond less predictably than watercolour paper, but it carries something a standard sketchbook cannot — the character of that particular place.
I travel as a paying guest and document my stays through hand-drawn illustrations and personal stories in Chinese. For an upcoming visit, a few sheets of your hotel’s own writing paper, prepared in the room, would be warmly appreciated.
我用酒店自己的客信纸记录每一次入住。纸张的厚薄、纹理和抬头，都是目的地的一部分。几张提前放在客房里的信纸，就能成为下一幅作品的起点。
